Ph.D. Research Assistant Position

We have RA openings for strong Ph.D. students with computer science background (or equivalent) and interests in any of the following topics.
  • Computer Security
  • Networks and Systems
  • Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Modeling and Simulation of Large-Scale Systems
Required skills:   
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Strong background in networking and systems
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., C/C++/Java, and Linux system),
  • Strong mathematical background is highly preferred
General Application Instructions:

1. Interested students please email the following materials to Prof. Kevin Jin. If you are already in Chicago, please setup a meeting time through email.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume;
  • Transcripts (undergraduate and/or graduate);
  • Publication List (if applicable), with samples of your best publications;
  • Research statement (a short description of your interested research)

2. Please fill the official online application: Ph.D. Program. In the application form, please put my name (Kevin Jin) as (one of) your interested professors. It is also good to mention your strong interest to our lab in the personal statement.

In the email, please mention whether you have completed the online application, so that we can begin the evaluation of your application.



Undergraduate or Graduate Research Assistant Position (Part-time)

We are looking for excellent computer science undergraduate or graduate students to participate our research projects. Undergraduate research assistantship is available.

Preferences are given to students who have already been involved in our research projects (see how here), and students meeting the following criteria:
  • Good programming skills (e.g., C, C++, Java, iOS, Android, Python);
  • Good knowledge of algorithms, operating systems and computer networks;
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and deadline-oriented;

How to Get Involved in Our Research
  • For master students
    • Taking CS597 with Prof. Kevin Jin (at least one semester project for credits)
    • Master thesis CS591 with Prof. Kevin Jin (at least two semester commitment)
  • For undergraduate students
    • Taking CS497 with Prof Kevin Jin (one semester project for credits)
